I’m a creative developer, with 15+ years of client work for the world’s leading companies and brands as well as continued Open Source contributions to various languages, projects, frameworks, and numerous self-launched projects.
I generally work on advertising or product campaigns for major brands, as well as some smaller, interesting projects.
These days I’m mainly front end (HTML, JS, CSS) but pack in a decent amount of back end (mainly PHP) work too.
My background is creative, specifically animation, designing TV and film titles with 3dsmax and After Effects. After spending years writing plugins and scripts for both applications, I started programming in ActionScript, specialising in a very visual mixture of animation and code.
I’ve had various speaking opportunities, organised a mini-conference with visitors and speakers from Europe, South Africa and America, as well as running various meetup groups, and have been published online and in print once or twice.
I’m also on the Adobe Flash Pro Beta testing team so am lucky enough to be directly involved in working to get bugs resolved and having input on new features.
I’m an ideas-man first and foremost and I’m happiest joining a project early; scribbling, brainstorming, connecting ideas, conceptualising, formulating a plan, talking to the right people, researching, testing, executing, and helping to curate a concept all the way through to final realisation.
I’m very much a self-starting kind of guy, imaginative, motivated and entrepreneurial, and I bring that to each and every project I work on.
